Desert Altar UAE, 2024
Inspired by La Loba from Mexican and Southwestern folklore, the wolf
woman who gathers bones and sings them back to life. I dedicated this
work to one woman, and it also speaks to my own search for resonance.
In the stillness of the desert, a shaped mirror sits at the center and reflects
either the viewer or the land, turning looking into an act of self-recovery. Two horns rise from the sand like the tip of a buried strength not yet reclaimed. A brass moon in the waning crescent marks the moment before renewal. A crystal from the UAE mountains anchors the base and contrasts with the sand.
